This project got underway in 2015 when it was recognized that members of
our community needed support to provide socks for the
homeless. In 2015, several hundred pairs of socks were
donated. In 2016, a larger group moved this project
forward to raise 5,000 pairs of socks for the homeless:
men, women and children. Community support was
outstanding and we raised 12,000 pairs of socks.
The 2017 Socks for the Homeless campaign collected 16,000 pairs. The 2017
campaign operated from November 1 until December 15,
2017. Outreach was begun to identify more shelters and
other not for profit organizations who support children,
men and women who are in need. These are organizations
in addition to those supported in 2016 who continue to
require our help. Efforts were also
underway to broaden our donor base in our community to
better enable us to collect socks.
The goal for the 2018
campaign is 20,000 pairs of socks.
